After thousands of Canadians cast their votes, Assiniboine Credit Union member Urban Eatin’ won a $25,000 prize in the National Co-op Challenge to help develop their co-op.
Urban Eatin’ Gardeners Worker Co-op is group of young gardeners whose passion is transforming underused spaces such as yards, balconies, school grounds, building exteriors — you name it — into welcoming, beautiful, edible landscapes.
Kathy Bardswick, president and CEO of The Co-operators praises the impact co-ops have.
Every co-op in this contest makes an impact on its local community, providing needed goods and services and contributing to the overall strength and resilience of the community.
Assiniboine was proud to support Urban Eatin’s start up and has recently awarded a Community Enterprise Development Grant to help the group to improve their shop space and upgrade their tools.
