Empowering youth and addressing homelessness in our community.

Empowering youth and addressing homelessness in our community.

How do you address poverty and homelessness in our community?

By empowering people with the skills to navigate the world and the confidence to flourish against all odds.

But this doesn’t happen by accident, and it’s programs like Just TV at the Broadway Neighbourhood Centre that are leading the charge.

The Just TV program, which has been supported by community grants from ACU, provides a safe place for at-risk youth and connects them with industry professionals to learn valuable media production skills. These skills not only build self-confidence, but they also provide these youth with a highly marketable skill set.

And this year, Just TV was contracted to produce videos in conjunction with The National Conference on Ending Homelessness 2017.

They created some extremely powerful videos, and all the conference attendees were blown away by the quality and authenticity of the projects.

But you don’t have to take our word for it, have a look for yourself.

These videos were shared with conference participants, as well as at the CEO Sleepout where they were premiered on a big outdoor screen for all the CEOs in attendance to view.

At the Sleepout, the youth had the opportunity to speak directly to the CEOs about their experiences and had the chance to get first-hand knowledge from industry leaders in attendance about what potential employers are looking for.

Just TV Crew share a moment with ACU CEO Kevin Sitka at the CEO Sleepout after sharing their videos to all the CEOs.

This is just one example of how Just TV is providing the opportunity for youth and at-risk individuals to have a face-to-face dialogue with industry leaders.

The youth also flexed their media production skills and produced this amazing highlight video on the conference as a whole.
