Green Action Centre is once again hosting the Bougeons en hiver: The Jack Frost Challenge 2014 from February 8 – 14.
Teams of one to five people are encouraged to skate, ski, cycle, walk, run, or snowshoe a total of 130 kilometres (per team) as they make their way to work, shopping or social outings. Last year 387 people on 84 teams located throughout Manitoba recorded over 11,500 kilometres of travel. This year promises to be even bigger and better!
I will be there along with three of my co-workers – Lisa Fehr, Kevin Morris and Ben Rogers – as Team Assinibrrrr Credit Union. We will be tracking our active winter commuting kilometers during the week and plan on using five different modes to get to work.
To round out the week, you can also sign up for the first ever Winter Bike to Work Day, happening on on February 14. And come out to cheer on Actif Epica racers from around the world taking on 130 kms of frozen Manitoba landscape, as they reach the finish line at The Forks.
So grab your skates, bike, snowshoes or snowboots and sign up for this wintery Winnipeg challenge. You may even win a ‘cool’ prize!
