One predictable sign that spring has arrived in Manitoba is the flurry of credit union annual meetings. I’d like to invite members of Assiniboine Credit Union to attend our upcoming annual general meeting (AGM) on Earth Day, Tuesday, April 22. You may have seen the details in the Winnipeg Free Press this past Saturday.
A Message to Our Members
My first few months at ACU have been exciting and enlightening and I must say that members have a lot to feel proud of. As President and CEO, my priorities are to help strengthen our financial picture while deepening our social and environmental impact. Assiniboine is unlike any other financial institution in Manitoba and I’m truly honoured to lead an organization whose vision says ‘we care’ and ‘we can make a difference’.
Why should you attend?
Many of our members come to us through a personal referral. Many join us because they share our values and support our vision. Perhaps you joined simply because our local branch is most convenient for you. In any case, as a member of Assiniboine Credit Union, you benefit from our commitment to our members’ success — not only as customers, but as owners and as citizens of the communities we share. And as the owner of our co-op, you have rights and responsibilities.
Your Rights & Responsibilities
We take our responsibility to you very seriously and have in place many procedures and policies that go beyond industry standards. These help ensure your privacy is protected, you are treated fairly, and have the best possible experience with us. In turn, we ask our members to be aware of both their rights and responsibilities as a member.
What can you expect at the AGM this year?
I understand Assiniboine AGMs are always informative and entertaining. This year will be no different. You’ll hear about how your credit union is making your community a better place, the impact we had in the past year, the work that’s keeping us busy this year, and our vision for the future.
At this year’s AGM, you’ll learn more about our membership in the Global Alliance for Banking on Values and I’ll share my commitment to manage our business in a way that is true to the triple bottom line of ‘people, planet and prosperity’.
Review Our Annual Report
Before the meeting, members can access our 2013 Annual Report online to learn more about our financial results. In addition, our non-financial results are highlighted, including ACU’s accomplishments in the following areas:
- Access to Financial Services
- Social Impact Business
- Community Donations
- ACU Employees in the Community
- Impact with Our Purchasing Dollars
- Employment Development
Please Join Me at AGM 2014
This is your financial co-operative, you have the right to be involved and the right to have a say in how your credit union is run. Please join us at ACU’s 71st annual meeting and celebrate the co-operative difference.
