Art City, a not-for-profit community centre that provides free arts programming for people of all ages, is celebrating their 16th birthday this year. And you’re invited to celebrate with them!
Art City began in 1998 with founder Wanda Koop’s dream of providing accessible arts programming in Winnipeg’s West Broadway neighbourhood. With a simple vision, their goal was to create a positive and expanding cultural impact in the community.
To Dream, To Imagine, To Create. A Space For Art In Every Life.
Since then, Art City has seen Wanda’s vision come to life. For 16 years they have offered high quality, free-of-charge art programming to those who need or wish to express themselves creatively. Art City fills a gap in one of Winnipeg’s core communities with their offering of a safe and supportive place for people of all ages (with a focus on children and youth) who need or want a place to express themselves.
Their annual fundraiser has become the community event of the year, and this year is no exception. They’re pulling out all the stops with their biggest fundraising event ever, Sixteen Candles, and it promises to deliver a rockin’ good time. So get on your dance shoes and join the festivities, all while supporting a great cause!
The main event will be live entertainment by The Reverend Doctor Ottawa Fantastic (Greg MacPherson) & his Fantastics with a dance party hosted by DJ Hunnicut & DJ Co-op. Art tables and exhibitions, a photo booth, a group dance class and awesome prizes are all part of the fun, and founder Wanda Koop will be in the house!
Tickets are available at Art City, Music Trader, Into the Music, and online at EventBrite.ca . Limited table reservations are available; for information call 204.775.9856. You can also follow event updates on facebook at facebook.com/ArtCityInc.
